Hello! Today is one of the happiest days I have had recently. Our IATP Center will have Internet at last. Of course, it is not the thing I had been expected, because only 3 hours a day at four computers... But it is better than nothing
October 31, 2007 Hello! As I had been expected IATP Centr in our city is not able to connect us with Internet. So, again so many problems for my students to enter our gcetm forum
November 9, 2007 Hello! A lot of work. Lack of Internet time because in our IATP office we do not have. As before I have to use Internet for one hour a day in Counterpart. Today together with American Corner I organized a Tea Party for some Labour veterans. My duty was to organize their arrival to the Corner. For the whole week I worked on it. Today at the meeting there were 7 veterans. They told about themselves, their work before they had retired, some interesting moments from their past. Then all together watched Powerpoint pictures of old Dashoguz that had been prepared by Roman Karimovish who has had such a hobby . His hobby is collecting pictures with old views of our city
November14, 2007 Hello! We have had Internationl Education Week for the fourth day. My students and I have been doing a lot of things. They created logos of their groups: Apple, Storm and Literature one. They have been creating picture on the topic of IATP. They wrote essays about globalization of education. Hello! My name is Rabiga. I am an English teacher . I think I am one or the most experienced English teachers of my city and may be welayat (region) and the teacher who uses Internet a lot while preparing lesson plans and hoping to use this kind of technology while teaching students.
I arrived in the capital of the USA some days ago because I was lucky to become an IT finalist and come here to learn a lot of things about the country , its educational system, some traditions of the people and , of course, about Washington, D.C. the capital of US.
Let's start with Washington, D.C. The first thing I would like to say about this city is that it is splendid. I have seen some Northern European capital cities. I have visited Saint Petersburg several times but I should say that the capital of the USA is one of the most beautiful cities of the world. Each building is a masterpiece of agriculture. You can walk along its streets and such kind of activity is similar to walking round a museum.
July15, 2007 Hello, again! Now I am in Virginia. The first place my host took me to was Fairfax Community High school. Of course, there are no students there but I could compare the school buildings, its accomodations, facilities to the one I work at in Turkmenistan. Then the most interesting thing for me was the technology the teachers use at the school. They do not have grade-books we usually have in our schools. All the data is in the computer system: groups, lists of students, results, home assignments and so on. The other one that I got interested in was a group of posters with different kinds of work with children to develop their English speaking skills...
July 17, 2007 Hello! I would like to tell about the school I visited today. It was Clearview Elementary School that is located in Fairfax County and is one of the two special ones in the USA. It has preschool classes for the children who are only 3 years old. I was surprised with the quantity of electronic eqipment the school uses. I have never seen before so many kinds of device that the teachers of this school can use to be prepared for their class properly. I hope we, teachers of Turkmenistan, will be able to have such things too some day... What do you think about it?
July 19, 2007 There are so many things to write about but not so much time I have to do it because of a large amount of places I have visited recently. I would like to tell about the school I visited yesterday. It is Fiarfax Community High School. There are no students there now. But our host, a teacher of that school took Zulhiya and me there to show us how IT is used by him at lessons. Two computers in the class, one for the smartboard in the classroom and the second one (laptop) to use at home, as well. If you want some information from Internet, you can get it right then at the lesson because the computer has permanent link. And of course, you can use video,DVD and other kinds of device. I wish I had such things in my class.
July 19, 2007 Hello! Today our hostess, Zulhiya and I visited Prince William High School. It has a summer camp, so we could attend some classes at the school and watch how the classes are organized, how students take a part in the class activities, see the equipment and IT they use. What can I say after all these things? I am used to using interactive methods of work but I need to have such kinds of device they have at their school...
July 20, 2007 Except visiting schools we have toured Washington, DC and Virginia. We have seen the Capitol, the White House. The masterpieces of the National Gallery of Art astounded us. Monet, Manet, Degas, Rubens, Vermeer, Rafael, El Greco... The list of the most famous painters and sculptors is infinite. We attended Mount Vernon, Shenandoah Caverns and National Air and Space Museum. And this is not the end.
July 23, 2007 Our home stay is finishing. I have seen so many places: Old Town Alexandria with its wonderful Torpedo Factory Art Center, Harpers Ferry with its museums, Shenandoar National Park and Shenandoah Caverns (Virginia and Maryland) and the Museum of Natural History (Washington, DC). I have prepared nine presentations about all the places I have been to for these two weeks of my staying in the USA.
July 24, 2007 Hello! I am in Washington,D.C. again. Today we have shared our impression we had while staying home in different states and visiting different schools. We disscussed using various kinds of technology in teaching. Practised some of them. (Reply to this) (Reply to this) (Reply to this) (Parent)
